Sylvester A. Mensah is the Acting Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority.
He assumed duty on June 15 2009, following his appointment by President J. E. A. Mills to replace Mr. Ras Boateng, former CEO.
Before joining the NHIA, Mr. Mensah was the Head of Public Sector Banking with the Inter Continental Bank, Ghana. He was also an adjunct faculty member of the Institute of Professional Studies and the Central University College Graduate School.
Mr. Mensah holds an MBA from the Universities of Leicester, UK. He is also a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School where he obtained a Degree in Administration as well as a Diploma in Public Administration. He holds an additional Diploma in Political Economy from Cottbus Political College in Germany.
Between January 1997 and January 2001, he was the Member of Parliament for Dade Kotopon Constituency in Accra. Mr. Mensah had earlier served as the Greater Accra Regional Director of the then National Mobilization Programme from 1987 to 1996.
With such a rich background and experience as a Banker, Lecturer, Finance Professional and a Strategic Management Expert, Mr. Mensah is set to lead the Management of the NHIA to implement the vision of government in providing affordable and quality health care delivery for all residents of Ghana.
