A sample of the new NHIS Membership ID Card whose design has been completed .
Usage
There will be a computer and a magnetic stripe reader at the provider site for membership authentication. At the provider site, the card will be swiped and information about a member's eligibility will be displayed on the computer.

- NHIS hologram;
- Picture-in-picture;
- Watermarks (NHIS logo and Ghana Coat of Arms).
Picture Background: The picture background should always be white.
Magnetic Stripe: This carries useful data such as unique serial number of ID card and is verified by the system during user authentication.
- Membership is subject to yearly renewal according to the dates at the back of the card.
- A security sticker is affixed onto the appropriate slot each year when membership is renewed.
Card Replacement: Card can be replaced before the five (5) year validity period if lost or damaged, at a fee.
