Staff of CPC-Cape Coast have enhanced their knowledge in the
diagnosis, treatment, medicines management, and claims vetting of common
dermatological diseases following a quarterly team-based in-service training
held on Thursday, 18th June.
The training focused on Common Dermatological Diseases and
Their Anti-Infective Therapy (Topical and Systemic) and forms part of
Management’s ongoing efforts to strengthen staff capacity in clinical
appropriateness, medicines management, and claims processing to support quality
healthcare delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Facilitated by Miss Agnes Ninson, Mr. Abdul Razak Rahman,
and Mr. Samuel Kofi Nyarkoh, the session brought together all CPC-Cape Coast
staff for an interactive learning experience. Participants engaged in
discussions, shared practical experiences, and clarified issues relating to the
management of common skin conditions.
Drawing on the Ghana Standard Treatment Guidelines (7th
Edition, 2017) and the NHIS Medicines List, the facilitators guided
participants through the classification, diagnosis, treatment, and claims
vetting considerations for common dermatological diseases. They also
highlighted the recommended treatment regimens for the various conditions.
Through practical case studies, participants gained a better
understanding of the importance of accurate clinical documentation, appropriate
prescribing, matching medicines to specific disease conditions, and promoting
the rational use of medicines to facilitate efficient claims processing and
improve patient care.
The initiative underscores CPC-Cape Coast Management’s
commitment to continuous staff development and reinforces adherence to the
Ghana Standard Treatment Guidelines, NHIS operational policies, and established
claims management procedures.
