Some residents of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area have testified that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), latest innovation known as ‘MyNHIS App’ has made it possible for people to conveniently enroll multiple individuals onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), using Android phone.
The Provider and Client Relations Unit of Corporate Affairs Directorate as part of its sensitization mandate embarked on field visitations to some markets and lorry stations in the Greater Accra Metropolis where the testimonies were made.
The team led by a Senior Officer, Nana Akyaa Adriana Afriyie visited the Madina market, Tuesday Market, Mamprobi market, Lapaz lorry station, 37 lorry station, Madina lorry station, Anyaa market, Okpoigonor area, Kpeshie and Sowutum lorry stations.
The exercise was meant to intensify awareness creation on the NHIS expanded Benefit Package, medicines list, the rights, and responsibilities of NHIS members, MyNHIS App, the Mobile Renewal Service short code *929#, illegal charges (Copayments), NHIS and Ghana cards linkage.
Some of the market women described MyNHIS App as a ‘Game changer’ when they were taken through the steps.
The team addressed some challenges associated with the Scheme’s operations and further urged people with genuine complaints to use the accessible platforms including the Call Centre numbers for immediate attention.
The team distributed the NHIS subscriber handbooks, fliers and aprons, and some market women volunteered to serve as NHIS Ambassadors.
