The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has
successfully concluded its Ghana–Chad Knowledge Exchange Programme, marking
another milestone in strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The
initiative reinforced a shared commitment to advancing Universal Health
Coverage (UHC) through health financing, digital innovation and institutional
capacity building.
At the closing session, the Chief Executive of NHIA, Dr.
Victor Asare Bampoe, described the programme as a significant step in
strengthening South-South cooperation. He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment
to sustainable health financing, interoperability, fraud prevention and the
successful implementation of the Free Primary Healthcare Programme.
The Chadian delegation commended Ghana’s progress in
expanding healthcare access and praised the strong collaboration among key
health institutions. They identified stakeholder engagement, digitalisation,
public trust and community-based healthcare as valuable lessons from the
exchange.
The programme ended with a tour of the NHIA Data Centre,
showcasing the digital systems that support efficient nationwide service
delivery and laying the foundation for continued collaboration between Ghana
and Chad.
