The National
Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Deputy Chief Executive for Operations, Louisa Atta-Agyemang (Mrs.) on
July 16, 2024 paid a working visit to the Great Consolidated Diamond
Hospital in Akwatia of the
Eastern Region.
She was
accompanied by a team
led by a
Senior Manager, Festus Baah from the Clinical Compliance Audit Department of the NHIA Quality Assurance
Directorate.
Th visit
afforded the DCE Operations, the opportunity to appreciate the team's regular auditing processes conducted at the NHIA credentialed
healthcare facilities.
Addressing
management of the Great Consolidated Diamond Hospital, the DCE Operations,
Louisa Atta-Agyemang (Mrs.) urged all stakeholders in the health sector to
commit to strengthening partnerships and leveraging collective expertise to
advance Ghana's National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
She
interacted with some patients in the various wards, who appreciated the benefits of
the NHIS but complained about extra monetary demands (illegal charges) for
services covered by the Scheme.
The DCE
for Operations reassured
NHIS members of
government's genuine
commitment to making free basic
healthcare accessible to all
residents of Ghana, reiterating the NHIA zero tolerance for illegal charges.
The Great
Consolidated Diamond Hospital, Medical Director, Dr. Obeng Nsiah thanked the Deputy
Chief Executive, Operations for the
visit.
The team
lead, Senior Manager,
Festus Baah at a meeting briefed the DCE Operations
on the team's modus
operandi.
"The
unit does retrospective audit, analyse data, tease out outliers from the
analysis and verify those outliers at the facility and among others."
Mrs.
Atta-Agyemang further engaged staff of the Kwaebibirem and Denkyembour NHIS offices and promised to help
resolve some of their operational challenges.
