A Deputy Director with the National Health Insurance
Authority(NHIA) Finance Directorate, Mr. George Asamoah-Baah has advised all
the regional and district management teams to religiously comply with the
Government's Integrated and Financial System (GIFMIS) application law.
Making a presentation on the GIFMIS application rollout at
the NHIA Membership and Regional Operations (MRO) Directorate's 2024 mid-year
performance review meeting held in Kumasi, he emphasized that all financial
transactions are to be processed in the GIFMIS application before cheques are
written and issued out.
"We must team up and commit ourselves to the use of the
GIFMIS application to ensure transparent and accountable use of resources and
timely production of financial reports."
Mr. Asamoah-Baah cautioned,
"Transactions processed outside the GIFMIS shall be considered an
infraction on the laws and may attract the needed sanctions stipulated in the
PFM act."
GIFMIS
The Government of Ghana in the year 2010 introduced GIFMIS
to replace the Budget and Public Expenditure Management System.
The GIFMIS is an information system that monitors and
summarizes financial information on financial transactions.
The (GIFMIS) targets the improvement of public financial
management in substantially decentralised management by the Controller and
Accountant General's Department of Ghana's Ministry of Finance.
