NHIA Solidarizes with CHAG. Let’s fight Illegal Charges together. NHIA Boss to CHAG Conference | 7/15/2024

The National Health Insurance delivered a solidarity message at the just completed Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) 2024 Annual General Conference in Koforidua which was chaired by Dr. Anarfi Asamoah Baah.

The theme for this year's conference is "Ghana’s Journey towards Universal Health Coverage: Addressing Healthcare Quality and the Emerging Human Resource Challenges." In his message to the Conference, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, the NHIA Chief Executive congratulated CHAG for being an exemplary ally of the NHIS and reaffirmed the NHIA's pride in being associated with a worthy service provider.

He went further to share the NHIA's four-point agenda and ongoing reforms to strengthen the Scheme. On digitalization, he indicated that introducing the E-pharmacy platform would require hospital pharmacies to upload prescriptions onto the platform. Patients can then pick up their medications at local or community pharmacies or have the medicines delivered to their homes with the help of the government's address system if the hospital pharmacies don't have the prescribed medications in stock.

The E-pharmacy platform is intended to eliminate illegal payments or co-payments in the delivery of healthcare services and make medications more convenient to acquire. On expanding access, he emphasized the potential for Ghana to attain Universal Healthcare Coverage by 2030 with the help of digitalization which involves issuing Ghana cards to 6.3 million children aged 6 to 14 and assisting individuals aged 15 and above to link their NHIS cards with their Ghana cards while a unique number is also to children under five at birth.

As a result, your Ghana Card number will serve as your NHIS number for accessing medical services. He shared some insights on the Free dialysis treatment for vulnerable patients, the sustainability of the program, and the automatic registration of SSNIT contributors into the NHIS Scheme.

Dr. Peter Yeboah, the Executive Director of CHAG rallied stakeholders to continue with the development of strategies and institutionalization of healthcare quality improvement under the Safe Care program. He eulogized Pharmaccess for their collaboration to mainstream the quality-of-care practices within the CHAG network of providers and called for unity as partners forged ahead to meet UHC targets.
